Jet-Broadening in Turbulent Plasmas

This paper presents the first selfconsistent calculation of the broadening of a jet in turbulent color fields. The authors simulate the QCD Boltzmann-Vlasov equation including both hard elastic particle collisions and soft interactions mediated by classical Yang-Mills fields. One of the key results of the calculation is the formation of a “Ridge”, namely the broadening of the near-side momentum distribution of the jet along the beam axis, which has been observed by the RHIC experiments. The consistent treatment of hard pQCD interactions and soft color fields has long been the holy grail of QCD transport and this paper is clearly a milestone in that regard:
